Her umbrella has holes, sewn-on patches, ribs held by bits of string, and a knot at every corner. It has clearly seen better days. It shouldn't be used anymore. But Flimsy clings to it, and she holds fast.

The wind blows, the leaves fly away, her striped scarf billows out horizontally, and her feet begin to leave the ground. She doesn't let go. She looks a little worried, it's true. But she doesn't let go.

She is called Flimsy, "fragile". It is probably the worst-chosen nickname in the whole family.

Flimsy is part of the Atypical family: characters who never quite fit into the frame, and who are rather proud of it.

We imagine her in an entryway, where you grab your coat on stormy days. In an office or a workspace, to remind you that you can move forward even when the wind blows hard. In a bedroom, a library, anywhere you love autumn, falling leaves, and overly long scarves. The deep black of the tree, the grays of the wash, and the white of the paper match pretty much everything, and she keeps her course all year round.

This is the original, unique piece. Hand-drawn in black ink and gray wash, on thick textured watercolor paper. No other version of this piece will be sold as an original.
