The wind has just snatched her umbrella away. The one she had patched up at least four times. A sensible person would be chasing after it. Hooray, she throws her arms up to the sky.
Hair disheveled, scarf wrapped around her waist, coat flapping in every direction, and that big smile of someone who has just realized that rain, after all, is not that bad. She has good shoes. She has her glasses. The rest, the wind can take.
Hooray is part of the Atypical family: characters who never quite fit into the box, and who are rather proud of it.
In your home
She would fit right in in an entryway, right next to the umbrella stand, to lighten up rainy mornings. In a kitchen, a reading nook, an office where sometimes we need to be reminded to let go. It is the kind of drawing you come across and that makes you smile, even on a November Monday. The black, gray, and white of the paper match pretty much everything, and she is in a good mood in every season.
As a gift
For a grandmother who still dances in the kitchen. For a friend going through a difficult time who needs a little lightness. For a retirement, a new life, a new beginning, any time when it is time to let go of what weighs us down. Or for someone who lives where it rains all the time, and who has decided to laugh about it. It is a unique piece: no one else will have the same one.
